Healthy Summer Sides That Won’t Break the Bank or Your Weight Goals!

Summer is an exciting time to spend time with family and friends outside enjoying the beautiful weather! Typically most of these times are focused around eating lots of delicious food while soaking up sun and good company.

Eating seasonal means using foods that are grown and harvested the same season you‘re going to eat them. For example, squash is typically harvested in the summer and fall so it is best to use them in recipes during that time as well. Typically, in season foods are going to be more readily available for lower prices from local vendors and grocery stores. In season are not specially grown out of season so they will be produced fresh locally and won’t have far to travel. In addition to being fresh and full of flavor, seasonal foods are more likely to be available as organic produce that has been grown with less pesticides. Check out local produce at grocery stores and farmers markets to support local businesses and take advantage of seasonal foods
